Macie Flenar

Recruiter - Tulsa, OK.

I grew up in Flower Mound, Texas, a suburb in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. My hometown is known for its safety and family-oriented atmosphere. Families move here to start their family while they enjoy the many newly opened restaurants. Growing up, I was influenced the most by sports. Whether it was attending my brother’s baseball and football games, or going to softball practice and pitching lessons, I truly learned the value of teamwork and strengthening your mindset. One of the greatest lessons I learned from my childhood was to focus on what you can control, not what you can’t. After I graduated high school, I moved away from the Flower Mound bubble and attended Oklahoma State University where I studied Marketing and Management, while minoring in International Business. Throughout college, I was involved in Greek life, and now I’m considered a Kappa Delta Alum.

One thing I would like to accomplish is to save up money to where I can invest it and buy a lake house and/or beach house. Not only could I rent it out on Airbnb, but I could also stay there when I take vacations. Once I retire, I can move there as well. Having these houses would provide me with passive income that could go towards my traveling goals. I hope to visit Greece and Amsterdam next!

When I am not working, I love to go to the gym. Not only is it stress-relieving, but it has also improved my confidence and instilled discipline in me. I have always been active, however, I really started prioritizing my mental health after the pandemic. My goal now that I have started working a full-time job is to stay consistent and continue working out 5 days a week, getting stronger by challenging myself every day. Exercising requires proper nutrition because fueling my body with food that gives me energy also promotes productivity. On top of working out, I enjoy crafting, painting, coloring, and I even started finger weaving blankets. Overall, I hope to incorporate both hobbies and healthy habits into my everyday life because it provides me balance.

The last place I volunteered my time was with my Sorority at our Girl Scout event. Throughout the year, we have various events where the Girl Scouts in the Stillwater area come to the Sorority house, and we do activities with them. The last meeting, we did a scavenger hunt with them on Greek Row, and they got to learn about all the Sororities’ philanthropies. Being around these young girls and teaching them confidence along with many other skills has been extremely rewarding. Knowing I am making an impact on these girls is what drew me to attend these events. One of my favorite meetings was the Halloween Trunk or Treating where everyone dressed up in their costumes and we had them write down what makes them confident on their bag. At each car trunk we asked them questions about themselves and gave them lots of candy. I think having these girl scout meetings with the girls boosted their self-confidence as well as made them feel valuable. It made me realize how small acts of kindness can truly impact a person, especially for a young girl.

Before coming to Inceed, I studied at Oklahoma State University and recently graduated in May. Throughout my college years, I focused on maintaining a high GPA all while gaining lifelong friendships. My goal nearing graduation was to find a career path that would fit my desire for growth. I would have to say my biggest struggle at least this last year of school was truly balancing my time to figure out post-graduation plans all while working towards building healthy habits. I knew that I wanted a job where I could make a tangible impact on the company’s success and where I would have opportunities for growth. I knew that Inceed was the place for me and being a recruiter here would set me up for success.
