I grew up in Pretoria, South Africa… the capital of South Africa. My hometown had the most beautiful weather. Beautiful trees in the spring. It was just a city with a bunch of friendly people.
Growing up there, the person who influenced me the most was definitely my mom. She motivated me on a daily basis. She just did everything she could to give me opportunities with school and with all my sports. Just a great cheerleader in the background.
During my time in Pretoria, and throughout my childhood, I really learned to never give up. If you fail, it’s ok. There’s going to be plenty of new opportunities just around the corner and I’ve seen that in my life. I’ve failed many, many times but you get up, you dust yourself off, and you keep going.
