I grew up in Galveston, Texas, and it’s such a unique place. I’ve met so many people from all over the world who come to visit, and I love sharing the history of the island—it’s really rich. Living on an island has had a positive impact on me. It taught me to accept things as they come and appreciate the world around me. Growing up in such a diverse, tourist-filled city gave me a different perspective on life. It made me really interested in understanding people, learning about their experiences, and what makes them who they are.
I originally started as an art major. I took ceramics all through high school and even earned an AP credit in it my senior year. My first couple of years in college, I spent most of my time in my dorm or the studio—drawing, painting, or working on the potter’s wheel. I’ve always had a knack for creating—it’s a great way to express myself.
