I grew up outside of Kansas City, Missouri in a small town called Peculiar. I attended Ray-Pec High School where I played baseball and football. I was fortunate to be influenced by several great teachers and coaches and especially my parents who collectively modeled what hard work looks like, and how to pursue the things in life that one values with passion. I have one older sister as well who has always been a great role model for me. I had a great childhood in a wonderful place where I was able to learn and enjoy life while also developing some toughness, competitiveness, and a solid work ethic. I played quarterback at Missouri Western State University and studied Political Science. I eventually changed majors to pursue my passion for teaching and coaching and completed my degree from the University of Missouri- Kansas City in Secondary Social Studies Education.
