Colin Croteau

Senior Recruiter - Houston, TX.

I grew up in Katy, TX which is a suburb of Houston. My hometown was such a great place to grow up. There were lots of things to do, but it still had that small town feel. Everyone was very friendly and there was a nice sense of community. It keeps growing and is different every time I go back.

When I was growing up, my mom influenced me the most. She always encouraged me to push my boundaries and try new things. I learned early on that nobody knows everything, and that there is always something new to learn or a way to improve.

I got my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Sport Management from Texas A&M University. I loved attending A&M (for 7 years!) and hope to send my children there one day too!

I am a huge soccer fan, and at some point in my life I would absolutely love to have the chance to attend a match at my favorite club in Dortmund, Germany.

I became a fan of Dortmund when they signed Christian Pulisic, one of the best players from the USA. The club is known specifically for its loyal and passionate fanbase, and the stadium atmosphere is one of the best in all of sports. I have had the chance to visit the Westfalstadion in Dortmund before, but it was during the offseason with no matches being played. I must go back sometime in my life to experience that legendary atmosphere in person, preferably as part of the ‘Yellow Wall’ where the loudest and rowdiest fans stand and chant songs throughout the entire match.

When I’m not at work, you can usually find me playing real outdoor sports, playing fantasy sports, or playing video games about sports. I also enjoy walking my dogs, browsing TexAgs, or spending time with family and friends.

I got into fantasy sports in high school with my buddies and have been playing with them ever since. As we have gotten older, it has become more competitive and higher stakes.

Over the years, I have spent a lot of time volunteering with Second Baptist Church of Houston. My family has been attending the church for most of my life and they have a strong impact on our community and help a lot of people in the Houston area. Each year, one of the biggest events for volunteers is Angels of Light. This is around Christmas time, and we bring in families who are going through tough times. We give them a nice warm meal, groceries, and presents for them to open up on Christmas morning.

Hundreds of families participate each year, and they get to have a genuine Christmas experience and feel the love and fellowship of our community. That is something that most people take for granted. To be able to provide them with that experience and see the joy and gratefulness on their faces is something that sticks with me and reminds me how lucky I am and how I have a responsibility to take care of those less fortunate.

Before Inceed I worked mostly in Sports and Hospitality/Real Estate. I was working with the Houston Texans and Houston Rockets after graduation and I loved being a part of those organizations, but I needed a larger role where I could gain more experience. I then landed with a local property management group where I was a Community Manager and Operations Manager. I was responsible for leasing out private offices, coworking space, warehouses, and more. The best part of that job was the relationships I built with each tenant, and watching their small businesses grow and succeed.

While I loved my job, I had ambitions of moving on to something bigger and developing some new skills. I was passively looking around, just seeing what was out there. I had a friend who worked as a recruiter, so I asked him for advice, and he immediately said I needed to check out the company he worked at- Inceed. After researching Inceed online, I thought it looked like a great place to work. But it wasn’t until I went in for an interview and was able to meet the staff that I understood what Inceed was all about, and I fell in love with it. I knew that this was the “something better” that I had been searching for.
