Where did you grow up?
Sapulpa, Oklahoma. I was born in Midland, TX and spent some time when I was really young outside Dallas, but claim “Tulsa” as my hometown (because no one can pronounce Sapulpa).
How would you describe your hometown?
Sapulpa is a mid-size suburb of Tulsa, but really felt like a small town. You knew everyone and everything they did. It was a great place to grow up, but I always knew I wanted to move to a bigger city.
Who or what influenced you the most growing up?
My Dad. He actually just retired recently at age 60 and worked really hard to make that happen. He worked in oil and gas and traveled overseas and commuted to Houston but always made our family a priority. If I had a dance recital or a sporting event, he always made sure to take the early flight home to be there. He taught me the importance of working hard AND working hard for your family.
What’s one of the greatest lessons you learned from your childhood?
Making family a priority is the best thing you can do to set yourself up for success. It makes you want to work hard for them, but also take that important time off to make memories.
